An exotic drink named tea arrived in Great Britain during the middle 1600's. It was introduced to England by ships of the East India company. Tea was a very expensive drink and needed very different equipment to make and drink it. The delicate porcelain pots and bowls brought from china became very desirable. drinking tea soon became a trend and status symbol. Tea soon created an industry and anything that had to do with tea was made, such as tea trays, spoons, tables etc. it became so fashionable that potters in England soon had to learn how to create the beautiful porcelain that was created in China.
